VANCOUVER,
BC--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 9, 2006 -- First American Scientific Corp. (OTC BB:FASC.OB - News) announces the signing
of a contract for the sale and installation of an EnergyCabin heating system
that will supply heat to Nakusp High School in the central BC community of
Nakusp, B.C., Canada. The EnergyCabin will replace the school's existing
propane fueled boilers, and is expected to reduce heating costs by 30%.
According to David
Grimshire, Chairman, Nakusp Energy Corporation, "We are pleased to host
the first EnergyCabin(TM) project in North America. The key features of this
project are the innovative integration of world-class solar and wood pellet
heating technologies and ability of FASC to quickly deliver a packaged solution
that meets our community's needs. With the support of Natural Resources Canada,
we will replace the propane currently used for heating Nakusp Secondary School
with renewable energy in the form of wood pellets and/or wood chips and at the
same time achieve a 30% savings on the school's fuel bill by switching to the
EnergyCabin."
According to David Dungate,
VP - Marketing of FASC, "With over 10,000 EnergyCabin systems currently
operating successfully in Europe, the EnergyCabin® combines solar energy with
wood pellet technology to provide heat and hot water year round for residential
and commercial applications. It can be connected directly to any existing hot
water heating system and can completely replace traditional boilers. There is a
great market potential for the EnergyCabin technology for heating and cooling
applications from 50,000 BTU to 10 million BTU for residential, commercial and
public sector customers. Since 69% of energy use in North American buildings is
for space heating and hot water, recent initiatives to reduce dependence on
fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, will create a strong market
for the EnergyCabin which provides a plug-and-play solution combining the best
features of solar thermal and wood pellet boilers. The EnergyCabin boiler
achieves an exceptional 92% efficiency and easily exceeds the most stringent
emission limits while significantly reducing fuel costs. In 2005 in Austria,
the wood pellet boiler market surpassed the market for oil boilers and with the
sale of 350,000 conventional boilers per year in the USA; we see great
opportunities for growth."
According to Brian Nichols,
President of FASC, "We believe the addition of the EnergyCabin's proven
technology to our product line will result in a significant increase in
revenues for FASC. Further, by combining the EnergyCabin with our KDS biomass
disintegration system and conventional pelletizing equipment, we will create a
complete 'green waste to energy' process that can replace conventional gas or
oil fueled heating systems. This is the first sale of many that we expect to
achieve this year."
