NEWS RELEASE - February 9, 2005

First American Scientific Corp. (OTCBB: FASC) files KDS patents in Japan.

Vancouver, BC, Mr. C.L. (Cal) Kantonen, Chairman of First American Scientific Corp., is pleased to announce that, in collaboration with Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., FASC has filed a KDS patent application in Japan. This is designed to protect our core technology and is expected to pave the way for the introduction of our equipment into the Japanese market. FASC and Mitsui, along with several other interested parties including EMSI (Japan) have been working together to evaluate the business opportunities and develop a marketing strategy for the KDS System in Japan.

Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. has annual sales in excess of $3.9 billion USD. Through its worldwide network, Mitsui and its overseas affiliates provide products, technologies and business expertise for emerging technologies such as our KDS System, and can provide marketing, manufacturing, distribution, and other business know-how around the world. Our discussions with Mitsui are ongoing.

First American Scientific Corp. is the owner of the patented KDS Micronex System, a unique one-step process for drying and grinding waste biomass into a fine dry combustible fuel. According to David Dungate, Vice President of Marketing for FASC, “significant costs of waste disposal and recently introduced legislation requiring the recycling of food and industrial wastes make Japan a high potential market for the KDS technology. The de-watering of waste biomass and other sludges can create a fine dry green fuel source that will achieve significant energy savings and, in some operations, can eliminate disposal costs.”

First American Scientific Corp.’s president, Brian Nichols announces: “We are extremely fortunate to be working with an industry leader of Mitsui’s calibre who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the First American team. The filing of patents to protect our technology is the first step.”
