An Overview of the KDS Micronex™ - Concepts & Performance

CONCEPT

KDS Micronex at work at test facilityFirst American’s KDS Micronex™ employs kinetic energy to grind and dry a wide variety of raw and recycled materials into extremely fine MicroFine™ powders comparable to talcum. It is possible to feed a blend of several different industrial and organic materials into the Micronex, and produce a uniformly ground and blended product.

Raw feed material of up to 6 inches can be reduced to minus 100-325 mesh and finer. Using an internal classification unit, the fineness of the product can be controlled.

While many conventional grinding or milling systems require dried product input, the KDS Micronex™ can process materials containing up to 80 % moisture. This results in significant cost savings by eliminating the need for separate drying equipment.

KEY APPLICATIONS

Wood Wastes and Biomass Fuels; Pulp and Paper sludges, Food Processing residues, Manures, Feed; Grain; Silage; Crop Residues; Bio solids (sludge); Kelp; Oyster, Crab and Clam Shells; Fish bones; Limestone; Clay; Gypsum and Gypsum Wallboard; Zeolite; Phosphate Rock; Coal; Lava Rock; Pumice; Glass; Nitrates; Gold bearing Quartz; Shale; Fly Ash; Carbon and Much More.

COST/PERFORMANCE

The KDS Micronex™ can process dry industrial minerals at the rate of approximately 3-4 tons per hour, while other materials range from 1-4 tons per hour depending on moisture content. The resulting cost performance and versatility of the KDS Micronex™ far exceed that of any other equipment being used for similar purposes in the market today. The processing of industrial minerals is competitive with conventional ball mill and other milling technologies. The capital, installation, and operating costs associated with the KDS Micronex™ are significantly lower than comparable equipment on the market today.
